Remembrance Day

Posted on 09/11/2022 by Evolve in Blog

Remembrance Day is a memorial day observed since the end of the First World War to honour armed forces members who have died in the line of duty. This anniversary is used to remember all of the people who have died in the wars, including WW1, WW2, Falklands War, the Gulf War and conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq.

On this day, there are many ceremonies at war memorials, cenotaphs and churches throughout the country.

The King and other members of the Royal family will join political leaders and ex-members of the armed forces and World War veterans at the foot of the Cenotaph memorial. As the bells of Big Ben toll eleven, and a single gun on Horse Guards Parade is fired, two minutes of complete silence is held in remembrance of all lost in war.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old.

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning,

We will remember them
