April is Stress Awareness Month.
If you're stressed, the most unhelpful thing you can do it turn to something unhealthy to help you cope - such as drinking.
Not taking control of the situation and doing nothing, can make your problems worse.
Try these stress busting suggestions to help you address your stress:
Be Active
Exercise won’t make your stress disappear, but it will help to clear your thoughts and let you deal with things more calmly
Take Control
If you think you can’t do anything about your problem, your stress can get worse. The feeling of loss of control is one of the main causes of stress.
The act of taking control is empowering and it is a crucial part of finding a solution to your stress
Connect with people
A good support network of colleagues, friends and families can ease your troubles and help you see things in a different way.
Talking things through with a friend may also help you find solutions to your problems
Have some ‘Me Time’
We often don’t get to spend enough time doing things we really enjoy, so it is important to take some time for socialising, relaxation or exercise.
Challenge Yourself
Setting yourself goals and challenges may help you deal with stress.
It can also make you want to do things and be active.
Try to be positive: Look for the positives in life and the things that you are grateful for.
